YOGA TEACHER MENTORING

Join me for 4 months of exploration, laughter, digging deep, support and community….

This is a 4-month, in-person mentorship program for yoga teachers who want to refine their teaching, learn to teach more authentically, and begin teaching with more ease and enjoyment. The program is for yoga teachers who:

  • Want to refine their craft

  • Feel there is something missing from their teaching

  • Sometimes feel like quitting teaching but love yoga so feel stuck and conflicted

  • Don’t feel they are connecting with their students

  • Want to find their authentic teaching style and voice

  • Want to move away from teaching an exercise class and more towards teaching from the heart

  • Want to be able to stand comfortably, confidently and authentically in the room

  • Want to learn how to better manage their energy so they don’t burn out

  • Feel they are lacking a yoga support network and want to connect with like-minded teachers

You will be supported in a safe, caring, compassionate circle where no question is too embarrassing, no sequence too clunky, no presence unworthy. I will share all my ‘tricks of the trade,’ all my secrets which have helped me move from someone who felt like an exhausted fraud to someone who can hold space and truly enjoy sharing the love of yoga. However, I won’t spell it out for you because I think we learn by discovering the ‘answers’ ourselves. I will guide you on a journey of self-exploration, and you’ll discover your own ways that work for you – your own truth.

The mentoring is done in person because learning to be seen and seeing others, even when feeling scared and vulnerable, is at the heart of teaching yoga. Here, you will see and support your fellow teachers just as you will allow yourself to be seen and supported. It’s hard, I know! But this will be a big part of the work. I know it’s much easier to stay on your mat and teach a brilliantly sequenced class without looking out at the students once. I’ve been there. But until you learn how to be comfortable seeing and being seen, and teaching from an authentic place, yoga teaching is a roller-coaster of emotions which will most likely burn you out. The work will be fun but sometimes exposing and hard. You will look in the mirror, as individual yoga teachers and as members of the yoga industry.

 The mentoring includes:

  • Four 4-hour in-person group sessions led by Emily

  • One 1-to-1 session with Emily (either in person or phone)

  • Private group chat for group support and Q&As

What this mentoring is not:

  • A sequencing course (We might dip into aspects of sequencing, and I will try to answer specific sequencing questions, but this will not be the focus of the program)

  • A business mentoring course (I’m not very interested in or good at marketing and social media, so if you are looking for that sort of advice, you’ll probably be disappointed)

  • A therapy support group (We might go deep and dark at times, but I am not a trained therapist, life-coach, etc. at all. I can and will hold space for whatever comes up, though… which may very well be a lot of laughter!)

 FAQs:

I can’t make all the sessions. Is that ok?

  • You should only sign up if you can make all the sessions. I know emergencies happen and a few people might end up having to miss one, but you should try your best to be present at all the sessions since the work is cumulative and progressive.

I don’t teach Vinyasa Flow or other commonly practiced styles of yoga. Will this mentoring still be applicable to me?

  • Yes. This isn’t a sequencing course. At the heart of it is learning how to be present and authentic, which is applicable to all forms of teaching yoga.

I’m not comfortable working or speaking in groups. Do I have to participate?

  • Yes, you do, although I will never make anyone do something they don’t want to do. To be honest, if you are deathly scared of group work, this mentoring probably isn’t for you. But if you are just a little bit scared but feel ready to stretch your comfort zones (in a very safe, lovely, supportive way!), then this mentoring could be perfect for you.

 Dates:

2023 dates will be announced soon…

All sessions will take place at The Movement in Haywards Heath.

 Price: £450

If you want to speak with me about it further, please feel free to email me at emilyscottyoga@gmail.com. Ideally, we already know each other and you think I’m an ok teacher….. but if we don’t know each other, let’s chat.

If you know you are interested, please send me a little email describing where you are in your teaching right now, why you are interested in this program, and what you hope to get out of it. (Don’t worry; there are no wrong answers. I just want to make sure we are a good fit!)

Lastly, I must mention the incomparable Naomi Absalom, my mentor for the past 5 years. I’ve completed 4 rounds of her mentorship programs, and if you get the chance, I highly recommend them. This program has developed from the seeds she planted in me years ago.
